The Amazon-owned company, Twitch, is taking it upon itself to implement bans on unlicensed crypto casinos. The ban came after one popular streamer admitted to needing to borrow money from fellow streamers to fund a gambling addiction.
Soon after this came out, other streamers, such as Imane Any, came forward to support the ban. The ban is to prohibit gambling on sites that do not hold licenses. Currently, it’s still unclear which license will be accepted. The ban will be implemented on the 18 of October 2022.
The update was announced on Twitter on Tuesday, the 20th of September, stating that in order to be streamed on Twitch, the casino would need to be sufficiently licenced in the U.S or another jurisdiction that provides sufficient customer protection. The ban also implants a rule that no referral links from sites such as these can be shared on the platform.
