Bitcoin and Ethereum have always been the two main attractions in the cryptocurrency landscape. Since the beginning, Bitcoin has been the driving force behind any changes in crypt market behavior and even affecting fiat market spaces. However, things may be set to change as some experts say a flippening could be on the cards!

Flippening. What Is It, And When Will It Happen?

It’s hard to dispute that the number one spot has been firmly held by Bitcoin, regardless of sudden drops in value.  It has never relinquished its top spot position. Bitcoin was the original cryptocurrency, coming about in 2009, and without any competition, took the number one position. Traders were in a frenzy trying to get their hands on the new world order currency, catapulting it to almost $20 000 in 2017. However, it wasn’t long after that Ethereum came on to the market in 2013, giving Bitcoin a run for its money.

Bitcoin has always been ahead of the crypto game, but lately, it looks like there could be some change in the air, and according to some experts, it could happen sooner than some think.

With the potential of Ethereum overtaking Bitcoin becoming more of a possible reality, the industry experts have come up with a term called the flippening. This is the hypothetical event in which Ethereum (ETH) overtakes the prominent Bitcoin (BTC).

Studies were done, and according to the specialists, the flippening could happen anything from 2022 to 2025, while 32.5% of those asked believed it would never happen. Out of all those who took part in the discussion, 25% thought the flippening would happen in 2023, 15% believed 2022 would be the year, and the last 15% believed it needed some time, and 2025 would be the year.

Bitcoin, Ethereum flippening on the horizon

Taking the title as the second latest cryptocurrency next to Bitcoin, Ethereum has shown promise since the beginning. With BTC being the leader, ETH often adapts its behavior from the activities of that market. For example, if the Bitcoin price is doing well, the Ethereum price will usually increase as well.
